5.3.9 Stereo Utilities

These are a couple of utilities useful for processing stereo sound. The Balance function allows to adjust the balance between the left and right channel and the Swap channels function allows to swap the left and the right channel. The Invert phase function changes the sign of the waveform. This is useful in order to reduce the amplitude of the center in a stereo recording, which is how many Karaoke effects work. In order to apply a Karaoke effect to a stereo recording, you can:

• Select Split track in the Sound menu.
• Select the whole first track and apply the Invert phase effect.
• Select Merge with Next Track in the Sound menu.
• Select Convert Track to Mono in the Sound menu.
