3.7 The Apple CAF File format

This is a format developed by Apple and designed to replace AIFF in the long term. It removes the 2GB file size limitation of AIFF and supports a wider variety of compression algorithms.

While the CAF file format does in principle support sound data with many channels, the current version of Amadeus Pro only supports the reading and writing of mono or stereo files in this format. Amadeus Pro will therefore downmix multitrack documents to a mono or stereo file, whichever is more suitable.

Metadata is lost when saving to the Apple CAF format (this may change in the future, as the format in principle supports the inclusion of metadata).
