Main Area

The center column of the Notio document window is the main area. It is split into an upper area where you can edit your notes, and a lower area where you can manage and edit attachments for your notes.

But this main area not only serves for notes, but also for the database categories. When you select a category in the left area, the content of the main area changes. You can e.g. search for certain notes or contents, manage resources, imported notes or keywords here. When you choose the Trash category, you can select one or multiple elements and delete them finally or restore them.

Here is an overview of the upper area's content:

Note

Shows some buttons in the top bar, that you can use to insert various layout elements into a note.

When you have set the ruler visible (in the Text menu), you see the current text ruler with its elements below the button bar. It is followed by the note content.

Search

Shows a [Search] button in the upper right. Below you see a various number of rows with adjustable search criteria. It is followed by a list of searchable elements, with various list columns that you can use to quickly resort the entries.

Resources

The top row offers a search field, a [+] and a [–] button, and — when the window is large enough to show all elements — a type filter for the resources to show on the left. This row is followed by a list of the available resources, with various list columns that you can use to quickly resort the entries.

Imported Notes

The top row offers a search field. Below it is followed by a list of imported notes, with various list columns that you can use to quickly resort the entries.

Keywords

The top row offers a search field. It is followed by a list of all keywords ever used.

Hint: You cannot delete keywords yet, but rename them (using the Information inspector in the right column).

Trash

In the top row you see a trash button, a recycling button and a search field.

Use the trash button to finally delete selected elements from the trash.

The recycling button restores elements from the trash. When you restore elements using this button, they will automatically be placed where you had removed them before.

Below you find the list of elements which have been dropped to the trash, with various list columns that you can use to quickly resort the entries.

Depending on whether you have selected notes or database categories in the left outline view, the lower area in the main column also changes its contents.

Here is an overview of the lower area's content:

Notes Shows the assigned attachments for this note, if any.
Search Shows the content of the object selected above.
Resources Shows the content of the selected resource, if possible.
Imported Notes Shows the content of the selected imported note, if possible
Keywords Shows the notes which use a keyword that you have selected in the list above.
Trash Shows the content of the selected object from above (note or resource).
