The ISMN code is used for tagging printed musical publications. If a product cannot be classified explicitly as being a book or a musical publication, an ISBN as well as an ISMN can be applied for.
The ISMN always contains 10 characters, the first of which is the letter M which will be created automatically by Barcody. To transform it into a barcode, the cyphers 979 are prefixed to the ISMN. Barcody also does this automatically, so you have to enter only the first 8 digits of the ISMN.
