The GSI code for shipping units (parcels, pallets, etc.) always starts with AI 00 (Serial Shipping Container Code), which will automatically be inserted by Barcody.
The first digit of the data field is the
Unit, which is currently reserved and filled in as
3. It is followed by the base number, the International
Location Number (ILN) of the dispatcher. It requires 7 digits. The
subsequent 9 digits are the
Private Generating. This continuous
number is given by the dispatcher and has to be unique for each
shipping unit. The last digit is a checksum and will be automatically
computed by Barcody.
