The ISMN code is used for tagging printed musical publications. If a product cannot be classified explicit as being a book or a musical publication, an ISBN as well as an ISMN can be applied for.
The ISMN always contains 10 characters; the first of which is the letter M and will be created by Barcody automatically. To transform it into a barcode, the cyphers 979 are prepended to the ISMN. Barcody does this automatically, so you only have to enter the first 8 digits of the ISMN.
