This section contains information on each item in the Edit menu of ScreenFlow.
Your last change is undone. ScreenFlow offers an unlimited (memory permitting) number of undo/redo actions. However, undo information is stored on a per-window basis. If you close a window and then reopen it, your undo information for that window will be lost.
Your last undo is itself undone. Redo is only available in some windows (such as the clip editor). ScreenFlow offers an unlimited (memory permitting) amount of undo/redo actions. However, undo information is stored on a per-window basis. If you close a window and then reopen it, your undo information for that window will be lost.
If you have selected any clips in the timeline they will be cut from the timeline.
If you have selected any clips in the Document Media panel, they are deleted.
If you have marked In and Out Points, the segment between the In and the Out Point is deleted for all clips, as shown below.
If you want to shift the clips left to fill the hole created by
the deletion, use Ripple Delete
(command-backspace) instead.
Note: Deleted clips cannot be pasted back.
If you have selected text in a text box it will be cut out.
If you have selected any clips in the timeline copies of them are saved for later pasting. Clips in the Document Media panel cannot be copied.
If you have selected text in a text box it is copied for later pasting.
If you had previously cut or copied clips, the copies will be pasted to the timeline starting from the scrubber, in the same track as the original clip, as shown below. If the clip is pasted again, a new track is created for each new copy.
If you have cut or copied text in a text box it is pasted at the cursor position in the text box.
Paste Adjustments
has four submenu options:
Video
(alt-command-I)
Audio
(alt-command-A)
Screen Recording
(alt-command-S)
Callout
(alt-command-C)
If you first copy/cut a clip in the timeline and then select another clip and paste adjustments to it, the corresponding properties of the first clip are copied to the second clip. You can paste adjustments to multiple clips simultaneously; however, if you copy multiple clips with different properties and paste them to another clip, which properties will be copied is not predictable.
If you have cut/copied text and paste it into a text box, the text will pasted with the font, size, etc. of the character preceding the insertion point, regardless of what the text properties of the original text were.
Deletes the currently selected objects.
Selects all clips in the timeline.
Deselects all clips in the timeline.
Will split the currently selected clips in two at the current scrubber point so you can adjust the parts of the clips separately.
If you have selected a clip in the timeline which contains
audio as well as video (visible as a green waveform through the centre
of the clip unless Show Audio Waveforms
in the Views
menu has been disabled), the audio will be turned into a clip of its
own.
If you have selected a clip in the timeline it will be split in three. The frame at the scrubber position will be extended in time (by default 2 seconds). The rest of the clip is moved to the right by the same amount. You can then drag on the ends of the clips to adjust their lengths.
Will trim the front of the currently selected clips from the start of the presentation up to the Scrubber.
Alternatively, you can adjust the left side of the clip by
clicking down on the mouse just near the left edge of the clip (the
mouse pointer will change to to indicate that you can resize).
Then click and move the edge of the clip to the right. This is the
same as using Trim Front to Scrubber
.
Will trim the end of the currently selected clips from the end of the presentation back to the Scrubber.
Alternatively, you can adjust the right side of the clip by
clicking down on the mouse just near the right edge of the clip (the
mouse pointer will change to to indicate you can resize). Then
click and move the edge of the clip to the left. This is the same as
using Trim End to Scrubber
.
The selected clips are locked to their positions in the timeline and cannot be moved. Neither can other clips be moved onto them to make transitions. Apply again to unlock the clips.
The default transition is added to the beginning of the selected clips. Apply again to remove the transition.
The default transition is added to the end of the selected clips. Apply again to remove the transition.
If you have used Mark In Point
and/or Mark Out
Point
to create a range in the timeline, then you can use this
item to delete that range and shift items at the same time. If you
want to just delete the range without shifting the items, then you can
just use Cut
. Be sure you have no clips selected, or only the
clips will be cut.
Sets the In Point for a range in the Timeline. This range can
then be used to delete whole sections of your timeline, via the
Cut
or Ripple Delete
menu items.
You can move the In Point by grabbing it with the mouse and moving it left or right. You can shift-mouse down then drag in the timeline header to create a range in the timeline as well.
Sets the Out Point for a range in the Timeline. This range can
then be used to delete whole sections of your timeline, via the
Cut
or Ripple Delete
menu items.
You can move the Out Point by grabbing it with the mouse and moving it left or right. You can shift-mouse down then drag in the timeline header to create a range in the timeline as well.
Clears the In and Out Points.
Markers
has the following submenu options:

Goto Previous
You can drag markers with the mouse to adjust their positions.
Opens a floating window where you can select special characters to enter into text fields in ScreenFlow.
