ScreenFlow lets you create transitions in clips. These are visual
effects, such as a turning page or a dissolve, used to emphasise a cut
between two clips. You create a transition between two clips by
dragging a clip so that it overlaps another one. In the overlapping
range a transition effect is applied, going from the first clip to the
second. The larger the overlap, the slower the transition effect. In
the example below the two clips are dragged on top of each other,
creating a transition period of about 1.5 s. The icon in the
transition box shows which transition is applied, in this case Page
Curl
.
If you move the mouse into the transition box a icon
appears. Pressing the icon pops up a context menu for the clip. You
can also get the same menu by right-clicking or ctrl-clicking anywhere
on the clip. The menu options are Show Transition Inspector...
and a list of the available transitions. The Transition Inspector
contains the same transitions, but in the form of icons.
It is also possible to add transitions to the ends of single
clips, for example to end a presentation with a dissolve. You do this
by selecting Add Starting Transition
or Add Ending
Transition
from the Edit
menu or the context menu for the
clip.
